The Edmund Burke International Summer School
The Edmund Burke International Summer School will take place between June 19 and 25, 2016, at Bloomfield House Hotel, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. It will comprise seminars, lectures and workshops with internationally renowned philosopher Roger Scruton, Irish journalist, philosopher and writer Mark Dooley, and French Irish Studies scholar Alexandra Slaby. Each day, Professor Scruton will hold a seminar on various aspects of his writings on art, religion, politics, music and architecture. Dr Dooley will offer a series of philosophy lectures about the thinkers who have shaped his worldview and who are discussed in his latest book Moral Matters: A Philosophy of Homecoming, while Dr Slaby will run a set of talks on 20th-century Irish history, the topic of her new book. There will also be a series of workshops on the topics covered by the course lecturers, sightseeing tours and evening discussions. It is also envisaged that there will be a number of public lectures by guest speakers.
The cost of the Summer School (for a minimum of 20 students) is €1,140 (room sharing) or €1,260 (single occupancy), which includes return transportation from the airport accommodation, full breakfast, light lunch, 4-course dinner, full access to leisure club and pool, wifi, administrative and tuition fees.
The Edmund Burke International Summer School provides a unique opportunity to engage with some of the world's leading thinkers in the tradition of Edmund Burke, in the land of his birth.
Payment Terms: 50% Deposit taken by the Hotel at booking stage. Full balance 1 month prior. Closing date May 1 2016. 25% cancellation fee. Places are at a premium so best to book early.
