Mullingar Arts Centre

Following extensive renovations, the County Hall was transformed into the Mullingar Arts Centre which opened officially on November 19th 1998 with the first programme of events being launched in February 1999.

The Arts Centre provides workshops in Art, Music, Dance/Ballet, Crafts, Drama (for adults, children, disadvantaged and those with special needs). The Centre is all inclusive. During 1999, all art forms were presented in the Centre and the Centre proved to be a focal point for arts in the midlands in a short space of time.

Mullingar Pewter Visitor Centre & Self Guided Tour

Visit the home of Mullingar Pewter, one of Irelands most recognised exports. The ancient craft of pewter making was revived in Ireland by Mullingar Pewter in 1974. A visit to the workshop will allow you see the skill of casting, turning, meticulous assembly and delicate hand finishing of pewter pieces by our skilled artisans. Learn some of the hidden secrets and magic which date back over 800 years.

The Mullingar Pewter Visitor Centre has a Factory Tour available Monday to Friday. The Pewter Gift Gallery carries an extensive range of Mullingar Pewter products and gifts for all occasions to suit all tastes and pockets. As well as a general home and gifts gallery.

  • Tours are not available on weekends as the workshop is closed.

Luan Gallery

Stroll across the bridge in Athlone and nestling on the right hand bank you’ll find the stunning Luan Gallery. A showcase for the most interesting artists from the midlands,Irelandand abroad, the building itself is a modern work of art in its own right. With floor to ceiling windows offering uninterrupted views across the majesticShannonwater, it’s a space that gives the work real room to breath.

There’s always an eclectic and balanced mix of media on display from painting to sculpture to textiles. Entry is completely free and if you’d like a one on one tour, that’s free too. All you have to do is ask. What’s more the collection on display changes every two months so there’s always something new to see. A feast for the eyes, it’s a fantastic way to spend some time.
